Saturday was the TXU Energy Turkey Calling Contest at the Houston Zoo. There were tons of little an big turkeys trying to win either a 4 pack of Zoo tickets or an Annual Family Pass. It was so much fun that my side still hurts from all the laughter!
The Turkey Calling Contest was held to kick off the Holiday Season and promote the 2011 TXU Energy Turkey Trot, a race that benefits a great charity (Sheltering Arms) – one that provides vital support to seniors and their caregivers across Houston.
The TXU Energy Turkey Trot is an annual fun run that is held on Thanksgiving morning and is sure to be fun , while helping a worthy charity. “Sheltering Arms Senior Services, a local charity that serves seniors and their family caregivers who are able to pay for services and those who need financial assistance.”
“With an expected record-breaking 13,000 participants, the run is the largest Thanksgiving Day race in the Houston area. Participants can register via Facebook online here and be sure to “like” the race while you’re there. Online registration is open through Nov. 20, and in-person registration will be available via Luke’s Locker from Nov. 19 through 23.
