Whole Foods Market® Champions to donate percentage
of first five days’ sales to local north Houston non-profits
HOUSTON, TX (June 16, 2014) For an opening week celebration that begins June 25, the Whole Foods Market Champions store will donate one percent of the first five day’s net sales to non-profits whose missions serve children, education, youth development, social services, arts and people with special needs. As part of the company’s core values to support its local communities, the stores donate five percent of net sales once a quarter. The schedule is as follows:

Klein Independent School District Foundation
The Klein Independent School District Education Foundation’s mission can be paraphrased as “we raise money to give it away.” The Reading Express was funded to ensure all Klein students have access to library materials throughout the summer. The Foundation’s current funding priority is the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Math (STEAM) Express mobile classroom.

The mission of the Barbara Bush Library Friends is to promote library services, supplement library materials, enhance programming, and promote outreach to the community. During the past fiscal year, the Barbara Bush Library, supported by the Friends, circulated over 1.2 million items and offered over 1,260 programs to enhance the learning and recreational needs of the Cypress Creek community.

Cypress Creek Foundation for the Arts & Community Enrichment (FACE)
Cypress Creek FACE is a non-profit performing arts presenter who brings the highest caliber national and international artists to NW Houston in five different concert series. FACE supports the local community through educational outreach with Klein Art Day field trips, college scholarships, and summer camps. FACE strives to foster arts appreciation at a young age through Family Series and Free Children’s Series concerts. FACE believes in community partnerships and provides volunteer opportunities for local volunteer organizations.

SIRE, Houston’s Therapeutic Equestrian Centers
The mission of SIRE is to improve the quality of life for people with special needs through therapeutic horsemanship activities and therapies and educational outreach. SIRE has three premier accredited Houston area locations, facilitates 5,800 hours of therapeutic riding a year, has more than 230 clients and 400 volunteers, and four decades of service.
“Leading up to the store opening, we’ve had the pleasure of meeting people and organizations in the neighborhood and surrounding area and supporting many events,” shared Erica Gentry, store team leader for Whole Foods Market Champions. “These one percent days are a great way to celebrate the store opening and organizations that enrich our community. We’re thrilled to open our first location in North Houston, and, we invite the community to shop at our new store on these days to further the non-profits’ missions.”
