Update: Kroger Coupon Policy 4/1/11

This is an email I received today from the Kroger Company.  I am very glad to see the revised coupon policy to give overage on coupons and money back.  The email also answers the question of what areas will be affected by the discontinuation of the double/triple coupon policy.  See if your Houston Area Kroger is listed below.

Thanks to all who have voiced their concerns and opinions about the discontinuance of the double/triple program. We hear you and appreciate your candid feedback and suggestions.  launching on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 will ultimately help a greater number of shoppers save money coupled with our continued investment in lowering more everyday prices. I will provide details about the new savings program to share with your readers next Friday, April 8, 2011.

The discontinuance of the double/triple program only applies to 104 store locations in the Greater Houston market.

It does not apply to Bryan-College Station, Dallas-Fort Worth, East Texas or Louisiana.

As a company, we put much thought into this decision and feel that the new savings program  The listing below indicates where those stores are located.

*You may be interested in knowing that as part of the revised coupon policy, if a manufacturer coupon exceeds the price of the item, the excess will be applied to the basket purchase. If the excess is greater than the amount due on the total order after the coupons are redeemed, the excess will be given in cash.

The attached policy and FAQs will address many questions you and your readers may have. We encourage you to post the documents on your site.

We look forward to your continued patronage and personally working with you through this transitional period to help you continue to save money at Kroger.

I hope you and your family have a great weekend.

Thanks for the continued updates and hard work on this!!

There is a strange coincidence in Ohio though. My sister got her Kroger circular for next week (Effective 4/4 thru 4/10) and the double coupon wording is GONE!! There is a blank space on the bottom right side of the front page of the circular, where is has ALWAYS said Double Coupons on manufacturers’ coupons up to 99 cents. I would have thought it was a printing error if not for your warnings.

The circular had a lot of new promotions for faster checkouts, digital coupons and new lower prices. That could mean a printing mistake with all of the changes made. But with your warning and these new promos it sounds more like double coupons end.

Hopefully Kroger can clarify this for everyone. (Please be a printing error!)
