TXU Energy Supports the Houston Zoo’s Gift Of Grub Campaign

TXU ENERGY AND THE HOUSTON ZOO MAKE MEATBALLS TO SUPPORT 2012 GIFT OF GRUB CAMPAIGN 

I will be attending this fun and exciting campaign at the Houston Zoo.   I will get more info on how you can help out  for this great cause!   Below you will find out what I will be doing…. and Thursday, I will be posting pictures and all the additional info for you.   Wish me luck!

People eat meatballs, and so do the big cats at the Houston Zoo!
Moms can learn gourmet meatball prep from a chef, and kiddos can learn how to make meatballs for the lions, tigers, leopards and other big cats. We’ll provide free T-shirts for the fun, the chef, location an dfood prep ingredients of course….  And the grand finale? Seeing the big cats eat meatballs just like the ones we prepared for them that day!

WHY:  To get together, have fun, make meatballs and promote awareness for the zoo’s Gift of Grub, the annual program that raises money to purchase food for the animals. (Like last year, TXU Energy is matching every dollar donated to the cause, up to $25,000, so that means a total of $50K will help feed the animals!)

The Houston Zoo’s animal family is large and diverse; 600 mammals, 800 birds, 500 reptiles, 400 amphibians, 4,000 fish and 4,700 invertebrates.  Each day, the Zoo Commissary staff goes to work at 5 a.m. preparing and delivering animal diets that have been developed in consultation with a specialist in exotic animal nutrition.  The staff works with one common goal – ensuring that every animal’s nutritional needs are met each and every day.
