I try to be the Queen of Multipurpose. With everything I have, I try to figure out different ways to use them, and my latest obsession is with over-the-door shoe holders. These gems are a space-saving organizing dream come true!
The most obvious use is for the intended shoe storage. Of course I have one in my closet for my Texas-sized collection of flip-flops and sandals, but thinking outside of the box gave me some wonderful ideas!
The over-the-door shoe holder I have hanging in my linen closet in my bathroom is home to a variety of toiletries. It holds hair items including styling products like creams, mousses, and oils; brushes and combs; styling tools like my hair dryer, flat iron, and curling iron. I have hair accessories clipped on to the pockets. It also serves to hold make-up remover wipes and liquids, lotion, razor blades, and extra shampoos and shaving cream.
I have used them in my children’s bedrooms to corral Barbie dolls, clothes, and accessories; Matchbox cars; action figures; handheld video game consoles; etc. For the kids, I recommend holders with clear pockets, so they can see the contents.
Crafting spaces need over-the-door shoe holders to hold paint brushes, paints, crayons, markers, glue, pipe cleaners, popsicle sticks, and anything else your little artists may need to create their masterpieces. I found a holder with extra-wide pockets, and I can even put coloring books and paper in them.
The laundry room is a perfect place to use the pockets to store dryer sheets, stain removers, and carpet cleaners. I also use mine to store pet items like leashes, medication, and brushes.
My absolute favorite use for an over-the-door shoe holder is in my pantry. I have freed up valuable shelf space by placing small things like granola bars, fruit snacks, packs of oatmeal, dried beans, seasoning envelopes, chip clips, and straws in the pockets.
It’s time to tame the clutter and free up space! Go get some over-the-door shoe holders, take charge! Be creative and organize!
