DIY Shampoo and Conditioners

This is a TV Segment taped for the LiveWell Network Show DEALS.

This time of year I really need to pay attention to my dry and brittle hair.  It seems that my hair has a mind of its own.  Either it is way too Frizzy with all the humidity or it is so dry that it almost feels like it could break in half.

When my hair needs some extra attention, I pull out my tried and true DIY hair care recipes to put an end to my unruly hair.

I use the Tropical shampoo on a daily basis, just because I LOVE the smell and it makes me feel pampered.  My kids like the Refreshing Shampoo the best and I like it because the Tea Tree Oil helps prevent Lice.  That in my opinion, is an added benefit when you have active kids that are constantly changing in locker rooms.

My girls and I will break out the DIY Conditioner and have a spa day.  We will use the Deep Conditioner, Paint our Nails and even use a Face Mask.  I like to include wine in my routine, but of course the kids get a root beer.  We enjoy the time we spend together while we pamper ourselves with these really simple recipes.

These products are very simple to make. Just so that you know, they do not lather up like the store bought shampoo.  They are runny in consistency but the recipe will go a long way.  Reuse a shampoo bottle for added benefit of not buying more plastic.

Here are the recipes:

Basic Shampoo:
1/4 cup distilled water, 1/4 cup of castile soup, 1/2 teaspoon of jojoba oil

Refreshing Shampoo:
1/4 cup distilled water, 1/4 cup peppermint castile soap, 1 1/2 tsp jojoba oil, 1/8 tsp tea tree essential oil, 1/8 tsp peppermint essential oil

Tropical Shampoo:
1/4 cup distilled water, 1/4 cup peppermint castile soap, 1 1/2 tsp jojoba oil, 10 drops vanilla fragrance oil, 10 drops of coconut fragrance oil

Remove Build-Up:
1/4 cup baking soda, water

Final Rinse:
1/4 cup vinegar or apple cider vinegar, 1 cup water

1/2 cup mayonnaise, let it sit for 15 to 30 minutes
