North Houston welcomes its first Whole Foods Market® store
HOUSTON, TX (June 19, 2014) On Wednesday, June 25, the Whole Foods Market® Champions store will open at the corner of Louetta and Cutten streets after a 7:30 a.m. bread breaking ceremony. The 44,180-square-foot store will open its doors offering a full range of high-quality natural and organic foods including a vast assortment of more than 1,300 locally-sourced offerings from some of Houston’s most highly-regarded community producers, more than 250 organic produce items, and hundreds of products exclusive to Whole Foods Market. The store will be the first Whole Foods Market in north Houston.
The first 500 shoppers at the store will receive a reusable Better Bag with Whole Foods Market product samples. Shoppers can also enjoy special store opening sales and music, as well as tips and tours.
As a part of Whole Foods Market’s commitment to the community and in celebration of the store’s opening, the Champions store will host a series of 1% community giving days during opening week. Guests can support a different local non-profit each day simply by shopping at the Champions Whole Foods Market store. On Wednesday, June 25, Whole Foods Market Champions will partner with the
Klein Independent School District Foundation and their Reading Express Bus, a mobile library that was funded to ensure all Klein students have access to library materials throughout the summer. The bus will be on-site and will offer story time throughout the day. Funds raised on opening day will be used to purchase to-keep books for the Reading Express Bus. The books will be given to children who check out and return books to the summer mobile library. Upon return they will be able to pick out a book of their very own to keep and begin or add to their home library.
In keeping with Whole Foods Market tradition, the Champions store is customized for the surrounding community and features local cultural flair and repurposed materials, and these special attributes:

· Wood fired pizza oven – buy whole, by the slice or take & bake pizza
· Made-to-order sandwich station featuring Whole Foods Market Bake House breads and made-in-store deli roasts

· Full service coffee and juice bar
· Beer and wine bar with 16 beer taps
· Sample wine in the community-style wine sampling and chilling station, featuring picnic-style table seating with a central ice tray
· Largest chocolate selection in the region which includes a selection of sustainable, fair trade, and unique offerings
